Sensor codes
Camshaft, crankshaft, and vehicle-speed sensor faults — these can cause stalling or no-start problems.
Important: Content here is general information only, not professional mechanical advice or a diagnosis for a specific vehicle. When in doubt, have a qualified mechanic assess it promptly.
- P0340: Camshaft Position Sensor 'A' Circuit Malfunction (Bank 1) — The engine computer is not receiving a usable signal from the bank-1 camshaft position sensor, which tells it where the camshaft is so fuel injection and ignition can be timed correctly.
- P0335: Crankshaft Position Sensor 'A' Circuit Malfunction — The engine computer is not receiving a usable signal from the crankshaft position sensor, which tracks crankshaft speed and position — the reference for ignition and fuel-injection timing.
- P0500: Vehicle Speed Sensor Malfunction — The engine computer is not receiving a valid signal from the vehicle speed sensor, which reports road speed for the speedometer, cruise control, transmission shifting, and ABS.
